The Canadian Women’s Heart Health Education Course consists of 9 modules. Each module includes a pre-recorded webinar ranging from 24min to 37min in length, a downloadable slide deck (PowerPoint) with speaking notes, a full reference list hyperlinking to the articles  (PDF), and a patient story (YouTube video). Interactive e-modules to come in Summer 2021.

The modules are: 

  1. Cardiovascular Risk Assessment in Women – The Role of Risk Factors and Scores
  2. Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) in Women
  3. Approaches to Chest Pain - A Sex & Gender Focus
  4. MI with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries (MINOCA)
  5. Stress-Induced Cardiomyopathy (SIC)
  6. Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD)
  7. Contemporary Management of Women with Heart Failure
  8. Cardiovascular Risk In Women With Gestational Diabetes & Hypertensive Disorders Of Pregnancy
  9. Recovery and Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) for Women

 The course was created to target trainees as well as healthcare professionals within cardiology, general internal medicine, and emergency medicine but is open to all.

Yes, the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Education Course is an accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and approved by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society. You may claim a maximum of 7 hours.

No. You can receive credits for each module you complete. Modules 1 to 8 are each worth 0.5 CPD Credits. Module 9 is worth 0.75 CPD Credits. 

After you complete the module and the mandatory evaluation form, a certificate is issued to you via email. 

No. To reduce barriers to access, the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Education Course is completely free.

Yes, faculty can download the tools (PowerPoint, speaker scripts and resources lists) to present content at your institutions (i.e. Grand Rounds). You are also welcome to contact us for invited talks.
